How to read the alphabet soup
- License first, certification second. Look for an active clinical license (MD, DO, ND, NP, etc.) before evaluating any added cert.
- IFMCP is the gold standard. If you only learn one acronym, learn this one. Verify on the IFM directory.
- Watch for unaccredited 'doctorates'. Any ND program not from CNME-accredited schools is a red flag.
- Coaches aren't doctors. CNT, NTP, FMCA — these are coaching credentials. Useful adjuncts, never replacements.
- Verify everything. Most certifying bodies have public directories. Use them.
